Hawaiian, The Legend of Eddie Aikau

The filmmakers called the film Hawaiian, The Legend of Eddie Aikau, because it showed that Eddie Aikau had such a love for his Hawaiian culture, and helped make an impact in how and why he wanted to protect his identity. He was proud of his culture, and didn't want anyone to degrade it like the Americans and Australians. The films angle shows how and why he wanted to track and preserve his ancestors, and he would do anything to create a better outlook on Hawaiians. He was passionate for his family and other people, and his connections helped shape his career. The fact that this movie was a part of ESPN, it was to grab everyones attention. It shaped the films content by showing his evolution of his love for surfing, and this transitioning to his voyage. If this film had been made by PBS or the History Chanel, it would have been more fact based and historical facts and ideas, such as the history of Hawaii, and other evidence how the water was important in Hawaiian culture.
